Exterior Construction

When the Outside Matters

Building the exterior means creating skin for the house. It has to be strong and hard to survive through heat, moisture, winds, and other climate surprises. The right choice of the exterior would prevent you from extra expenses.

Customers tend to make the interior renovation more often than the exterior replacement. So, your decision should be reasonable, and we are here to help. Good quality matters the most.

The exterior construction is your investment. Whether it’s establishing a building from scratch or a simple wall renovation, you spend your time and money. Our company values your choice and puts as much effort as it’s possible to realize your design. Further, we’d like to get you acquainted with possible types of exterior construction.

Decks, Patios, and Their Variants

The living space of your home starts from the wall. Does it? No. The true cozy and comfortable living space begins from a little garden with a patio. Or a nice deck. But what’s the difference?

A patio is a traditional courtyard that forms an open space situated directly on the ground. Patios can be attached to the house or detached. We offer a variety of materials for your patio: concrete, pavers, stone, brick, tile, etc. Most patios are built on a base, so they don’t need safety railings.

A deck is a space built above the ground, often from wood. They can be attached to the building or be freestanding. Depending on the deck’s highness, a railing may be required. Popular wood types for decks include redwood, cedar, and pressure-treated pine. In case you worry about insects, we have composite decking that doesn’t splinter or wreck.

A porch is typically made of wood, placed on the front of the house to provide a covered entrance. This seems to be an outdated piece of exterior though some modern variants are coming back.

A balcony is attached to the upper floor of the building and is always surrounded by a railing. Balconies are projected together with a building.

A veranda resembles a porch but is attached to a house above the ground extending down the sides.

If you plan to build an addition to your building or reconstruct the existing structure, our company advises you to consider some point. What is the purpose of the adjacent exterior piece? Will you need a space, or do you want just a small personal area? Do you plan on numerous guests or just family mornings?

TOLOKA General Contractor&Builder would gladly assist you in investigating and constructing such a type of exterior construction.

Windows Replacement

There’s one more detail that can change the look of your building: windows. Instead of full replacement, we offer partial one when it’s possible. If your existing frames and sills are still good, you can save money by using replacement units. If the frames are deteriorated and old, new windows’ construction is necessary (with frames, sills, jambs, and nailing flanges). Concerning the materials, on-market offers include wood, vinyl, aluminum, clad-wood, and fiberglass frames.

TOLOKA General Contractor&Builder commonly provides clients with such a range of window types:

  • Double-hung windows: classic look, operable lower and upper sashes, easier cleaning
  • Single-hung windows: only lower sash is operable
  • Sliding windows: multiple panels moving horizontally
  • Accent windows: often fixed with a rectangular design
  • Glass block windows: fixed with possible built-in vent, thick and break-resistant
  • Basement hopper windows: open from the top and hinged on the bottom

For customers with a more sophisticated taste, the following windows can be installed for new construction:

  • Projection windows: an assembly of three or more units positioned in angles
  • Picture windows: fixed for more light
  • Casement windows: may open at one end for ventilation
  • Awning windows: created to keep the rain out when the window is open
  • Skylights: fixed or operable, installed at the ceiling
  • Storm windows: placed over other windows as added insulation

Exterior Paint

Usually, paints are made from basic materials: solvent, resin, additives, and pigments. Exterior paint may also contain more pigment and come in different finishes from gloss to shade. Various weather conditions, changing temperatures, moisture are the main destruction factors. More flexible resins in contents keep exterior paint looking good and resistant. Special additives help prevent fading and staining.

TOLOKA General Contractor&Builder offers the following exterior painting services:

  • House painting
  • Commercial exteriors
  • Garage painting
  • Power washing
  • Deck and wood siding staining and finishing
  • Shed painting
  • Exterior solid stains
  • Porch painting
  • Exterior door and trim painting

Garage Construction

Another construction option that can enhance your building and add more functionality is a garage. We use various building methods to realize the most cost-effective construction way for our clients. Even if you don’t have a car now, be sure that the garage is an affordable upfront investment.

Most building companies offer three ways to build a garage:

  • Garage Kit represents the building package with very basic components and simple materials. But even with professional installation, you won’t get a long-term construction.
  • Post Frame Construction is a fast and sturdy construction. A customer decided on every detail: size, finish, feature, materials. Though the price is much higher than the garage kit.
  • A Stick-Built Garage is a traditional decision. You’ll get the exact design as one of your home. Durability is high while maintenance is low. However, it’s the most expensive process and requires a lot of time.

When choosing a garage, you should consider its size classification:

  • Single
  • Double
  • Three-car
  • Tandem garages

Two options of attachment are available as well: attached (direct connection to the building) and detached (disconnected from the building with).
